Global beverage giant Coca-Cola, no doubt is the favourite drink of many across all race, gender and generation. The over 125 years refreshing legacy has created wonderful moments for countless number of people across generation. The brand which started from soda fountain in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, in 1886, and has produced a number of global brands like Fanta, Sprite, 5 alive after its iconic Coca-Cola has been actively involved in many social developmental programs, thereby making it a major advocate of Global development and capacity building.
In 2016, Coca cola partnered with Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development in remodelling Araromi community Sport centre, Gbagada. After upgrading the facility to an ultra-modern state, Coca cola and Lagos State Government officially handed over the upgraded facility to Araromi community of Gbagada in March, 2018, in a ceremony that was greeted with smiles and excitement of members of the community.
In October 2017, Coca-Cola announced plan to launch a social developmental program- The Safe Birth Initiative- whose aim is to support Ministries of Health in Nigeria and Ivory coast in tackling the menace of high maternal and new born mortalities in the two country. The program will provide essential equipment’s and emergency kits to enable safe deliveries and mitigate against post-delivery complications or emergency. The program will also embark on training of personnel that will handle these equipment’s on their usage, maintenance and repair. We expect to have lots of healthy Coca Cola babies from this initiative.
As a major sponsor of the 2018 FIFA World cup scheduled to place in Russia, Coca-Cola has led several campaigns in raising awareness for the tournament. The ongoing FIFA World Cup tour has given a lot of football fans world-wide an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the prestigious Word Cup trophy. Coca Cola is also set to put smile on the faces of some individuals and give them an opportunity of a life time after the company announced plan to sponsor 22 lucky promo winners from Nigeria to attend the 2018 FIFA Mundial.
Coca Cola will no doubt cause many to look back and smile, not just because of the refreshing memory but also because of the wonderful and life changing opportunities the brand has given them through its numerous programs and initiatives.
