Funke Bucknor-Obruthe – THE DYNAMIC EVENT BOSS LADY

Her career journey started with her practicing law. After practising for a while , Bucknor-Obruthe was employed at Tie Communications, an advertisement and Public Relation agency, where she worked for a short while. In 2003, her love for event planning made her start Zapphaire Events, an event consultancy, marketing, planning and management company.

They are also into event producing and public relations consultancy with the aim of constantly providing excellent services for all event needs. She has since gone on to plan and organize several high-profile events within and outside Nigeria and has won several awards and recognitions including being featured in CNN ‘s Inside Africa for planning a Nigerian royal wedding. Don’t be surprised that Funke is not just into event planning , she is also a dynamic and interesting writer. Her book titled “The Essential Bridal Handbook” is a book worth having your library.

Funke in all her endeavours has exemplified a lifestyle of focus , handwork and determination. In 2014, Nigerian online magazine YNaija listed Bucknor-Obruthe in its “10 Most Powerful Under-40s in Business”. In 2016, she was listed in the BBC ‘s 100 Women series.
We can’t but also talk about the awards she bagged in her career journey. Some of these include the 2006 Future Award for ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’, the 2007 Wedding Planner Magazine Award for ‘Wedding Planner of the Year’, the 2011 Go2girl Life Achievement Awards, the 2012 Nigerian Events Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Events Industry.

 

In an interview with funke, she said Hard work, dedication and passion has kept her going. She believes in values such as hardwork, consistency, integrity, creativity, focus and determination. She exemplifies a lifestyle of efficiency and effectiveness whereby bringing an excellent touch to whatever she does.
