Texas – As a part of the funding campaign for season 2 of the hit original series “Nneka the Uber Driver,” the creators have launched the “Jollof-Rice Battle”competition through Kickstarter.
The web series launches its second season this coming fall with new 5-7 minute episodes rolling out weekly. NnekatheUberDriver.com will also feature behind-the-scenes footage from the “Jollof Rice Battle” and exciting exclusive mini-episodes of season 2 which will be shot throughout southeast Texas.
“Nneka the Uber Driver” delves into ambitions of first-generation Nigerian-American millennials grappling with a changing economic landscape. The creative duo behind the series have already met their modest kickstarter goal of $25 within the campaign’s first 3 hours. Their goal is to film an epic jollof rice battle to determine which country of origin makes it the best (Ghana or Nigeria). Their plan worked and they have flipped the comedic strategy on its head. Now a full-on fundraiser, they have their sights set on funding season 2 of the series!
According to Kickstarter, “Jollof Rice”pledges have surpassed 1412% funding in three days beating the average Kickstarter success rate of 38%.
Ventures Africa notes, “As hilarious as it is, Nneka the Uber Driver, is simply the true depiction of real life issues. Of young African men and women at home, and in the diaspora struggling to live dictated dreams and with so many high expectations. “
The progressive creative team behind “Nneka the Uber Driver”understands the power of connecting with their audience and re-imagining their stories in a comedic and honest way. As Nneka would have it “Harvard Grad. Uber Driver. Damn. What a Time to be Alive.”
